How One Jazz Album Makes the Media Cut

W. Royal Stokes, Phd. gave a nod of approval to the Jack Furlong Quartet’s 2011 album release of “And That Happened” [Bridge and Tunnel Records] in his annual “Best and Notable (Jazz) Releases.”

The band is humbled by its inclusion in the list with high profile musicians such as Chick Corea, Eldar Djangirov, T.K. Blue, Pat Metheny, Terrell Stafford, Bob Brookmeyer, Delfeayo Marsalis, etc.

Stokes is past president of the Jazz Journalists Association and is a regular contributor to www.jazzhouse.org.  He has authored several jazz books, written in and edited jazz-related media such as Jazz Times, The Washington Post, Down Beat and other publications.

Lafayette College Recital, April 6, 2011
